Rail Work Halted after Decision

The City has halted rail construction in the wake of the Hawaii Supreme Court decision on Friday, which ruled the City should have conducted an archaeological impact analysis of the entire route, instead of piecemeal as the rail line was put in place.  The City and the archeological lawsuit's plaintiffs met today to iron out additional details related to the suit.

Fellow blogger and partner Robert Thomas reports the Hawaii Supreme Court has issued an opinion finding the City was not allowed to consider the rail project's impacts on burial sites on a piecemeal basis.   The case has been remanded to the trial court. 

$15 million in new photo voltaic projects to be constructed on Oahu

Blue Earth has acquired the exclusive rights to build seven PV projects in Hawaii which will have a total output of approximately 3.5MW. The projects are valued at around US$15 million.

Hawaii has the second most solar photovoltaic systems, as well as the most EV’s and charging spots per capita in the country, and it’s also forging ahead on its efforts to increase the percentage of its electrical production with renewable power.

Rail Control Center Construction Poised to Begin

Senator Dan Inouye walked the site of future construction of the rail control center.  Says the senator:

"I have been working on this for most of my political life and I just want to be able to get on that little trolley car,"
